She was described in Parliament as "a kaleidoscope Queen of a kaleidoscope country".

This was certainly in evidence when the monarch visited some of the most diverse boroughs of London on Thursday as part of her Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

Elizabeth was welcomed to Redbridge, one of three London boroughs on her agenda, by almost 10,000 wellwishers waving Union flags and council staff wearing Corgi jumpers.
