Princess Anne is to embark on a three-day cruise off the west coast in June to visit as many of Scotland's lighthouses as she can.
Mandrake (The Telegraph) hears that Princess Anne will be cramming in as many visits to the solitary sentinels as she can during a three-day cruise off the west coast aboard the Northern Lighthouse Board vessel Pharos from June 24.
Anne, who has been an active patron of the NLB since 1993, got hooked on lighthouses at an early age. Aged just five, she accompanied the Queen on a visit to Tiumpan Head on the Isle of Lewis. Lighthouses figured prominently in her classroom paintings after that.
