Prince Harry Meets Mother of Friend Killed in Afghanistan

Liam Riley and Prince Harry on a training exercise in Canada

A MOTHER whose son was killed in Afghanistan thanked Prince Harry today for writing a beautiful letter to her about him after his death.

Cheryl Routlege's son, Corporal Liam Riley, 21, who became friends with Harry when they trained together for three months in Canada in 2007, was blown up by a roadside bomb while serving with the 3rd Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment in 2010.

Harry, 30, who instantly warmed to the ever cheerful Corporal Riley, from Killamarsh, Derbyshire, described him as a "legend" after his death.

Today after finally meeting his friend's mother and grandmother, Grace Davison, 73, at a reception in the City of London's Guildhall, he hugged them both and posed for a family picture. Click link for full post from EXPRESS.
