Accolade: Sir Ben Ainslie chats to a smartly-dressed Kate after the presentation
Torrential rain and high winds may have caused today's scheduled America's Cup race to be called off but it didn't dampen the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's spirits.
Keen sailors Kate and William - who appeared to take their famously strong partnership a step further by stepping out in matching navy fleeces, printed with their royal titles - headed to Portsmouth to meet with Olympic gold medallist Sir Ben Ainslie and his crew.
Although the sailing was cancelled just an hour after the pair's arrival due to 'extreme weather', their royal highnesses were far from short of things to do.
Kate tried her hand at a virtual reality sailing game and was presented with tiny team tops for Prince George and Princess Charlotte with their names on by sisters Ella Morgan, 13, and Millie Morgan, 11.
Their mother - Jo Grindley - is the team's commercial director.
