The Queen: Sixty-three Years on the Throne: 265 Visits, 116 Countries - How The Queen Saw The World

Caption: The Queen’s first visit to the USA came in 1957, when she was hosted by President Eisenhower and made a speech to the United Nations General Assembly. She has also been welcomed by presidents Ford, George H.W. Bush and George W Bush, who famously winked at Her Majesty. Photo: Fiona Hanson/PA Her most recent visit was in 2010, when she once again addressed the UN.

On September 9, the day the Queen overtakes Victoria’s record reign of 63 years, seven months and two days, her landmark will be celebrated with no more than a working trip to the borders, where Her Majesty will open a new railway, largely as a nod to the public’s demand to see her on the big day.

The Queen will overtake her [Victoria's] record at around 5:30 pm on September 9, though the precise timings are unclear because no-one knows the exact time of George VI’s death (and hence the beginning of the Queen’s reign).

The Queen herself has always made it clear she did not want any “fuss” made about the landmark, telling courtiers it should be “business as usual”. “The Queen just doesn’t see this as one of the significant moments her,” said a royal source.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, however, may have other plans, as they are expected to be staying at the Balmoral estate on September 9, giving them the chance to surprise her, perhaps, with a celebratory cake.

It will be a record that may never be surpassed.  Click link for full post from The Telegraph including interactive map of the Queen's travels.
