THE Duchess of Cambridge bought Prince George a book about his favourite children’s character today during a shopping trip on an official engagement.
Kate, 34, was sent on a mission by two-year-old George, who asked her to buy him a toy helicopter when he learned she was due to open the new East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) charity shop in Holt, Norfolk.
She failed on her mission, as the shop was out of toy helicopters but there was a consolation prize for the future King when she spotted a £2 copy of Fireman Sam’s Favourite Tales on the freshly stocked shelves.
“Fireman Sam is George’s favourite,” Kate said. “He had asked her to look for a helicopter but we hadn’t got any,” said Sarah Throssell, the charity’s regional retail manager, who took £10 in cash from the future Queen when she bought the book and an £8 Tom Kitten Beatrix Potter figurine to become the shop’s first customer.
