George, 3, and Charlotte, 17 months old on October 2, ended the eight-day royal tour of British Columbia and the Yukon by making their only appearance in front of thousands of ordinary Canadians with a very public departure from Victoria Harbour Airport in the capital of British Columbia.
A huge crowd turned out to bid the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their children farewell as they flew over the harbour and out to a military airport from where they were travelling home to Britain in a Royal Canadian Air Force Airbus A 310.
In a statement, the Duke of Cambridge thanked Canadians for the warm welcome they have given him and his family during the past eight days.
