THE Royal Family could play a "very potent" part to play in strengthening Britain's links with European Union countries ahead of Brexit, diplomatic sources said today as the Duchess of Cambridge prepares to visit the Netherlands.


One newly retired British ambassador, speaking anonymously, forecast that the Duchess of Cambridge's trip will be the first of a new drive by Royals to build bridges with other European countries which until now have largely taken a back seat to Commonwealth states in the Palace travel calendar.
