Prince Edward and Sophie Visit Sri Lanka Representing the Queen on Anniversary of Sri Lanka's Independence

While the eyes of the world on their nephew and his wife as they tour Scandinavia, Prince Edward and his wife Sophie Wessex have embarked on an altogether more low-key trip to Sri Lanka.

The royals were snapped enjoying a tour of the Peradeniya Royal Botanical Garden in Kandy, in the south of the tropical country, on Thursday.

Smiling Sophie, 53, kept cool in a long sleeved white top and loose taupe trousers to take in the scenery.
