The Queen's Coronation Day took place today 65 years ago
THE Queen is marking 65 years today since she became Britain’s seventh female monarch when the world was wowed by a stunning Coronation Day.
And after more than six decades of serving the nation, Queen Elizabeth II shows no signs of slowing down.Earlier this year, the Queen opened up about her ride in the four-tonne carriage from Buckingham Palace to the Abbey where English monarchs have been crowned since 1066.
She said: “Horrible. It’s not meant for travelling in at all. “I mean, it’s only sprung on leather. Not very comfortable.”
As the Archbishop of Canterbury crowned the Queen, crowds erupted into cheers and chanted “God save the Queen”.
The monarch also revealed how she struggled with her grand costume and stunning 5lbs crown during her historic coronation during a BBC documentary.
She said: “You can’t look down to read the speech, you have to take the speech up. "Because if you did, your neck would break — it would fall off.
“So there are some disadvantages to crowns, but otherwise they’re quite important things.” Read more from EXPRESS.
