THE QUEEN has made the Duchess of Cambridge a Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order
Kate was awarded the honour personally by the Queen for services to the sovereign. It comes on her and Prince William’s eighth wedding anniversary and reveals her growing royal role.
Over the last eight years, Kate has taken on charity work, travelled the Commonwealth on behalf of the monarch and in March she stepped out with the Queen for their first joint engagement.
The RVO has five classes from member to Knight or Dame Grand Cross, and Kate joins the Duchess of Cornwall, Princess Anne and the Countess of Wessex who have received the same honour.
The Queen appointed Camilla as she and Prince Charles celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary in 2012.
Kate will now have the letters GCVO after her name. Read more from EXPRESS.
