The Duchess of Cambridge makes her final engagement this week before giving birth. What will the next few months hold for Kate?
After almost nine months of speculation, rumour, gossip and reports, the Duchess of Cambridge will perform her final official engagements later this week. Since just-pregnant Kate entered the King Edward VII hospital in December last year, suffering with severe morning sickness, her every move has been monitored, but facts have been sparse.
We know Kate was hoping to keep the secret of her pregnancy longer than she did, as the Queen was informed only as William drove his wife to the hospital. We expect Kate to have the baby at St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington where Prince William was born, and the medical team to be the Queen’s surgeon gynaecologist, Alan Farthing, backed up by the former holder of that position, Marcus Setchell. he refurbished private Lindo wing has the latest maternal facilities including a birthing pool. The medical team will, however, be taking no risks and both Kate and William will listen to their advice on how best to proceed.
