Remembering Princess Diana

Caption: A lighter moment on a tour in Australia

THE Princess of Wales died 16 years ago this Saturday. As the buzz builds around a major new film about her life, four of our favourite writers (Express.uk) describe what Diana meant to them. Here's a snipit:

WENDY HOLDEN: Without Diana, I would never have become a writer. It was she who gave form to my clueless teenage aspirations and who kick started my interest in the upper classes and their difference from the rest of us, which has become the theme of my comic writing. For me she was a trailblazer; she opened up a whole secret world. Click link for full post from Express.

Kate Surprises by Accompanying Prince William to Anglesey Marathon Event

Radiant new mum Kate Middleton thrilled crowds as she made a surprise appearance in Anglesey to perform her first royal duty since the birth of Prince George on Friday.

The Duchess of Cambridge was every bit the fashionable first-time mother in a floaty patterned top, black skinny jeans and her trademark LK Bennett wedges.

With an affectionate nod to her rural surroundings, the 31-year-old completed the look with a light green tweed jacket, a chic Ralph Lauren number that she has worn on previous occasions.

Just five-and-a-half weeks after the birth of her baby boy, Kate was back to her usual svelte figure. She wore her luscious brunette locks loose and kept her make-up to a minimum, allowing her natural glow to shine through.

Prince William to Start Anglesey's Ultra Marathon on Friday

Prince William will open a three-day marathon that sees runners circumnavigate Anglesey on Friday.

Henri Lloyd ltd

The new father will start the annual 135-mile Ring O'Fire race that challenges competitors to circumnavigate the Isle of Anglesey in north Wales.

"His Royal Highness will meet a number of the runners and their families and a selection of volunteers involved in the administration of the race before officially starting the Ultra Marathon," Kensington Palace said ahead of the engagement.

The tough race follows the Anglesey Coastal Path around the island which William and Kate have called home since 2009.

It is also the place where their one-month-old son Prince George has spent the last couple of weeks since travelling there with his mother Kate Middleton from his grandparents' house in Berkshire.

Kate Spotted at Local Waitrose Food Store Looking Great!

Pictured out and about for the first time since the future king was born, she raised barely a glance from fellow shoppers as she pushed a trolley around a branch of Waitrose.

The 31-year-old was dressed casually in her favourite skinny jeans, a stripy top and white pumps. Among items that could be seen poking from at least five bulging bags were a bottle of red wine, a bottle of white and two pizzas.

The Duchess appeared to have taken advantage of the store’s Quick Check system, by which shoppers use a hand-held device to scan purchases as they go. They then present the scanner at a special till and pay.

The system lets customers monitor what they are spending as well as saving time at the checkout, although the bill is unlikely to have been a big concern for the Duchess. Click link for full post from The Telegraph.

Palace Denies "Granny Apartment" for the Middletons at Kensington Palace

Caption: Carole Middleton, the mother of the Duchess of Cambridge. Photo: REUTERS

Following the birth of Prince George last month, Carole Middleton has been close by as the Duchess has been staying at her parents' house in Bucklebury, Berks.

NORDSTROM - Shop Fall Designer CoatsBut the Duchess and her son are expected to leave the Middleton family home next month when the refurbishment of Kensington Palace is complete and, according to a Palace source, there are no arrangements for the Duchess's parents to have their own designated quarters at the royal apartment.

The Duke and Duchess’s apartment is currently undergoing a £1 million renovation at taxpayers’ expense.

It is believed there will be at least one guest room there where Carole and Michael Middleton could stay, but no suite of rooms set aside for them in the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's 21-room home.

Kate's Parents to Have "Granny Flat" At Kensington Palace Apartment of Prince William and Kate

Caption: Home sweet home: The work is part of the renovations to the 21-room apartment that will be the couple's first proper home together

The Mail on Sunday can reveal that the Duchess of Cambridge – with her husband’s approval – is setting aside a ‘granny flat’ at the couple’s 21-room Kensington Palace apartment so that Carole Middleton can stay and be on hand.

The lavish apartment is currently undergoing a £1 million renovation and it is understood that a suite of rooms within it is being created with Carole and her husband Michael in mind. Believed to comprise two bedrooms, a bathroom, a sitting room and a dining area, the suite will allow Kate’s parents to stay at a moment’s notice.

The move suggests that Carole’s influence on the upbringing of the young Prince will continue for some time to come. The Middletons already own a £1.2 million apartment less than two miles away from Kensington Palace in addition to their £4.5 million pile in Bucklebury, Berkshire.

But the rooms at the Palace are set to give them additional privacy and security when they wish to visit their first grandson.

‘The apartment is absolutely beautiful. It is mainly decorated in neutral tones but with lovely textures and furnishings.’

The apartment was previously occupied by Princess Margaret until her death in 2002. The apartment’s extensive overhaul has included the fitting of new wiring, the removal of asbestos and the replacement of a large section of roof.  Click link for full post from The Daily Mail.

Prince William Talks About Prince George in Interview with CNN

Prince William has confessed that his son Prince George is "a little bit of a rascal" who reminds William of himself and his cheeky brother Prince Harry when they were younger.

Speaking to CNN’s Max Foster, he said that life has changed significantly since the birth of his first child with his wife Kate Middleton. "I think the last few weeks for me have been just a very different emotional experience," he said. "Something I never thought I would feel myself. And I find, again it’s only been a short period, but a lot of things affect me differently now.

The Prince also spoke of the moment when he and Kate presented their newborn child to the world on the steps outside the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital. “I think I was on such a high anyway, and so was Catherine about George that really we were happy to show him off to whoever wanted to see him," he said. "As any new parent knows, you’re only too happy to show off your new child and, you know, proclaim that he is the best looking or the best everything." Click link for full post from Hello Magazine.
