KATE, Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince William will “acknowledge and honour” the 7,500 military personnel spending Christmas away from their homes by throwing a festive party for their families, Kensington Palace said.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will carry out two engagements during the first week of December aimed at showing their appreciation for the efforts and sacrifices made by troops and their families.
Kensington Palace took to Twitter to announce the couple’s initiative, writing: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will undertake two engagements in London and in Cyprus in support of deployed military personnel and their families who will be apart over the festive period.
Across these two engagements, Their Royal Highnesses wish to deliver a message of support to deployed personnel and to acknowledge the fact that many serving personnel are away from their families at this time of the year.”
On Tuesday December 4 Kate and William will host a Christmas party in London supported by the Royal British Legion.
Families and children of servicemen and women deployed from RAF Coningsby and RAF Marham serving in Cyprus, who bear the weight of the distance from their loved ones, will be the guests of honour.Read more from EXPRESS.
