Prince William and Kate Will Keep Kensington Palace as Their Official Residence

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge plan to stay on at Kensington Palace [GETTY]

THE Duke and Duchess of Cambridge plan to keep Kensington Palace as their official residence until William becomes King, royal sources have revealed.

Their intention to remain at the 21-room apartment when William is given the title of Prince of Wales and becomes heir to the throne raises the intriguing question of what will happen to Clarence House in the future.

Aides expect Charles and Camilla, who live there now, to move into Buckingham Palace when the current Prince of Wales takes the throne, despite previous suggestions he might keep the monarch's official London residence since 1837 as the office but live elsewhere.

One option is for Prince Harry to then move into Clarence House, although staff in the Royal Household insist the plans for the sumptuous residence, built between 1825 and 1827 by John Nash, are by no means clear.Click link for full post from EXPRESS.
